Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Napoli over the signing of Arsenal target Elseid Hysaj when the window reopens in January.
As reported by Calcio Mercato, the Blues are looking to negotiate a lower price for midfielder, with his current release clause set at €50m.
The report claims that the Blues are wary about paying over the odds for a new right-back and are looking to secure a fair deal for Hysaj.
This will serve as a major blow to Arsenal who were linked with the midfielder in the last transfer window, as the Gunners boss Unai Emery looked to strengthen his defensive options.
Napoli are looking to tie Hysaj down to a new deal, but the prospect of a move to the Premier League could compel the fullback to reject their advances.
Calcio Mercato claim that Chelsea are prepared to sign Hysaj in January and allow Napoli to keep him on loan until the end of the season – leaving the defender to join the club officially next summer.
