Manchester United have already held talks with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but Chelsea looks set to hijack their Premier League rival move to the signing of the Serbian midfielder.
As reported by TeamTalk, the Blues are lining a huge bid to hijack the Serie A star under United’s nose as Sarri looks field a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The midfielder joined Lazio from Genk back in the summer of 2015 and is now considered one of the most sought-after players across Europe after netting 14 goals and nine assists to help Lazio claimed fifth position in the Serie A table last season.
Savic was part of Serbia’s team at the just concluded World Cup competition in Russia and he’s caught the attention of several top teams with the above-mentioned tabloid claiming Manchester United alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona were among leading teams vying for his signature.
The Red Devils stepped-up their interest in the midfielder last week as report from Italian news outlet Il Messagero via TeamTalk, claimed Jose Mourinho’s side have opened talks with Lazio over a potential swoop for the midfielder worth around £100m.
Man Utd has already signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer but Mourinho still feel he needs to add more depth to his team and the move for the Serbian midfielder partnering with his compatriot Nemanja Matic at midfield would deem United fit for the league title next season.
Chelsea, however, have only take one step in strengthening their midfield with the arrival of Jorginho over the weekend just few hours Maurizio Sarri was announced as the Blues new head-coach. But with report linking Tiemoue Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante out of the club this summer, Sarri is looking to launch assault on Mourinho by hijacking the Portuguese gaffer move to the signing of Savic which would further raised rivalry between the two club.
