Napoli midfielder Jorginho has reported by talkSPORT is set to undergo his medicals with Chelsea on Thursday as he closes in on a £57m transfer to the capital.
This was confirmed by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis on Wednesday that Chelsea have hijacked Manchester City’s move for the Italy international and, as reported by the London Standard, the midfielder is closing on finalising proceedings with the Blues.
Having sacked Antonio Conte on Thursday, the Blues look set to appoint former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as their new gaffer as part of their deal with Napoli, relating to the fact he is still under contract with the club.
De Laurentiis said:
“Sarri is close to being the new Chelsea manager.
“My lawyers are in talks with his lawyers to finalise everything.”
When asked specifically about Jorginho.”
“I have to apologise to Khaldoon (Al Mubarak, the Manchester City chairman), because I closed a deal with him 15 days ago.
“But Jorginho would prefer to live in London than Manchester, I can understand that and especially if Chelsea pay him more.”
The midfielder was seen boarding a plane to London ahead of his summer move to Chelsea this summer. Jorginho will be Chelsea’s new and first signing of the summer.
