Manchester United have reportedly agreed a stunning £80 million fee to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.
After months of talks with the Serie A club, it’s believe Jose Mourinho is expected to conclude the signing of the 23-year-old when the World Cup ends in Russia.
According reports from Sunday Sun, the Premier League club were not too pleased to pay Savic’s eye-watering clause, but appears set to break the bank in order to seal his transfer.
With veteran Michael Carrick retiring at the end of this season with future of Marouane Fellaini up in the air, the Portuguese boss would be keen on adding new reinforcements to his central midfield this summer.
It is believed the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss wants the combination of both Nemanja Matic and Savic at the heart of his midfield.
Savic’s enjoyed a three successful spells with Lazio after he joined from Belgian side Genk with his form also believe to have Real Madrid interested.
Last month, he was very close to Juventus but a move failed to materialise with Lazio for Savic as the club were not considering planning on selling to a direct rival.
