Chelsea on-loan striker Alvaro Morata has officially announced that he wants to remain with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for the rest of his career ruling out a potential return to Stamford Bridge.
The Spain international joined the Spanish club during the winter transfer window in January in a loan deal of one-and-a-half-year after failing to impress Blues manager Maurizio Sarri.
Morata has now made it known to the media about his wish to remain with the Wanda Metropolitano outfit wanting to see out his loan deal and hopefully beyond 2020, when his loan deal expires, cancelling a move back to England.
Morata said via Goal: “It’s clear what I want. I want to be here, I’m going to do everything I can to continue playing here. I did everything in my power to come, and I’ll do everything in my power to stay.
“I do not even consider going to another club. I’m delighted, and I think I have to do a lot of things here. I do not have anything else in mind, I would like to be at Atletico de Madrid all the years that I have left of my career, to be as important as possible in the future.”
The 26-year-old forward, who arrived at the Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, struggled in his first season with Chelsea having had an impressive start to the season.
Since then the Spanish forward has only been able to bag 16 goals in 47 Premier League appearances, which hardly justified the £60 million deal the Blues paid to Madrid to land him in the West London.
While with Atletico, Morata has been able to score 6 goals in 15 la Liga appearance and creating one assist in the second half of the 2018/19 season camapign.
With Morata not willing to return to Chelsea and Eden Hazard seeminly sure to join Real Madrid this summer and their FIFA transfer ban, the Blues might just be in some serious trouble as they could lacking attackers ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
