“Too Expensive” – Chelsea back out from signing £70m rated midfielder

Premier League giants Chelsea are still very interested in signing Christian Pulisic, but the Blues will have to wait until the summer to bring him to the club.

As reported by The Sun, Chelsea are looking to run away from the £70m price tag on Pulisic and might not make a move for him when the window opens in January.

Come the summer, the American youngster will be in the final year of his current deal with Dortmund, so one might expect some kind of discount. However, Chelsea making move for him looks odd. And as it’s going, if Pulisic keeps up with the good performance, he could attracts the attention of other clubs there could end up being a bidding war that means he ends up costing more.

It’s a calculated risk, especially when you consider he might well benefit from having an extra 6 months to settle and get used to Maurizio Sarri’s system. But in the end, if Dortmund don’t want to sell they don’t want to sell, and there’s only so much we can do about that.

The Blues returns to action in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Fulham at the Stamford Bridge and Maurizio Sarri and his men will be hoping for a three points after tasting their first defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last weekend.
