Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping have as much of their squad players together for next season after another impressive campaign, but ultimately ended in trophy-less. One player Spurs may find hard to keep hold of is Danish attacker Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has just had the best season of his career with the North London club but has attracted interest with his superb form. There are reports that Barcelona are considering a move for him as a replacement to departing Adres Iniesta, who is leaving the club this summer.
With the Catalan giants in dire need of a replacement to Iniesta, Tottenham will be fearful of losing their midfield maestro. But in the aftermath of this, who would Tottenham sign as his replacement?
The only name that keeps lingering appears to be Moroccan international and Ajax star Hakim Ziyech. There were report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato last week that Spurs were one of many top sides interested in the player.
In terms of playing style, Ziyech is very much like the Tottenham’s type. An intelligent player, he reads the game brilliantly. His passing ranger is also a superb one and he has shown that on numerous occasions for Ajax the past two season.
He has netted nine goals in 39 appearances across all competition but has also been an assist king. The 25-year-old Morocco international has provided 18 assists in all competition this season and is set to be his national side focal point at the World Cup this summer.
Should Eriksen joins Barcelona, Tottenham would be in need of a similar midfielder with such attributes and Ziyech is young enough for a long-term option whilst still offering twice as much of what Eriksen does for Spurs.
