According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have joined in the race to sign Everton attacker Ademola Lookman this summer, however, Bundesliga club RB Leipzig – where he spent half of the season on loan – are in pole position for his signature.
The Mirror claimed Lookman is also a target for Southampton this summer, however new Everton boss Marco Silva is reluctant to cash in on the attacker that was signed for £10million in January 2017.
It is believed that Leipzig want to keep the player on a permanent basis after his impressive loan spell with the Germany club this year.
According to statistics website Spotrac, Lookman earns £23,000-a-week in his deal at Goodison Park, which isn’t due to expire for another three years.
The former Charlton ace is a very highly-rated young attacker and Everton should do all they can in order to keep hold of the player this summer.
Even though Lookman was down the pecking order under Sam Allardyce’s reign, Silva may have new plans for the England Under-21 ace and he should not look to give up on the Toffees just yet.
If Tottenham can secure the deal to sign Lookman, they should aim a shot at him. But given the fact that Lookman is a promising young England talent, the player would likely cost a lot.
At the moment it seems that Lookman could be in one of two places come the end of the summer transfer window – Merseyside or Leipzig.
