According to reports, Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has made his intentions of leaving the club, in a bid of joining Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper has been the subject of strong speculations regarding a move back to Madrid with the 13th time Champions League winner. Courtois has made his desire to return to Madrid and as regularly implied with his statments that joining away from Chelsea is keen.
Courtois had a brilliant campaign with his national side Belgium at the World Cup, which earned him the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper in the tournament, has only helped his cause of joining Real Madrid this summer.
The Transfermkt’s €65m-rated due to report at Chelsea’s Cobham training centre before end of this week along with his compatriot Eden Hazard where the new head-coach hoped to hold discussions over the duo future. Instead, Courtois is believed to have remained in Belgium while he awaits news of a prospective return to Spain with Real Madrid.
It seemed unlikely that a move would be finalized before the end of the on-going transfer window, with Eden Hazard – another Madrid transfer target – also seemingly set to stay put in England. However, fresh reports now indicate that the Belgian keeper is holding out for a move to the Bernabeu and has subsequently failed to report at his current club with just 3 days left for the start of the new campaign.
We know how much both the player and the club he wants to move to are interested in the deal going through, but the absence of a quality backup for Chelsea – who have only brought in a-past-his-prime Rob Green – will most likely result in the move falling through.
However, it is Real Madrid who are in hot pursuit of the Belgian and they rarely fail to land their man.
