Maurizio Sarri according to reports, is ready to approach his former side Empoli over a possible deal to sign promising young midfielder Hamed Junior Traore.
Italian publication Il Tirreno via Calcio-Mercato reported that the Blues head-coach will seek talks with club president Tuscan Corsi over a deal to sign the 18-year-old.
The midfielder has been attracting suitors across Europe with his superb performances for Empoli this season and Sarri is clearly a fan.
Traore break in Empoli’s senior squad recently and he has made over a dozen league appearances this season for the Italian giants.
At just age 18, the midfielder has started nine games in Serie A, making a further four appearances off the bench.
The Ivorian, who can play both in a deeper and more attacking midfield role, is enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Sarri’s former side.
Sarri will be hoping he can utilise his contacts at his former side to seal a deal before interest in Traore from elsewhere rises.
