Caglar Soyuncu latest admission that Arsenal are considering a move for him this summer has certainly got fans talking on Twitter.
The Gunners’ head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has long been known as a huge admirer of the Freiburg defender, who is also said to be attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.
However, the 21-year-old has now confirmed that the Emirates club are looking to possibly bring him to Arsenal this summer.
Soyuncu is currently away with the Turkish national team and, speaking to the Turkish media, he admitted that his future will be sorted once he returns to Germany following their game against Russia on June 5.
“Arsenal are one of the most important clubs in England.
“I know they’re interested in me, but there’s nothing finalized yet about my transfer.
“After the national team camp we’ll have talks.”
These comments from the defender have caused quite a stir amongst the fans, with many believed the prospect of landing one of the Bundesliga’s most highly-rated defenders.
However, there are also plenty that believe Arsenal should be focusing on more experienced targets this summer, considering Unai Emery already has several young centre-backs in his squad, such as Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Here’s a selection of what they have been saying on social media:
Welcome Soyuncu ?⚪️?⚪️ https://t.co/wZCdrXRuhx

What a signing Soyuncu would be for Arsenal.

Per gone, Kos getting on/injured, Mustafi inconsistent. We need new blood/competition for places.

I see Soyuncu lad has been talking a lot about Arsenal. That is definitely not happening then.
I'd rather have Pavard

No, he is young maybe talented, but we need experience, but not the 34 years kinda experience

Would be nice but have to figure out what we’ll do w/ Holding/Mavro/Chambers

No look for experienced players….stop the habit of signing guys with difficult names……they make it difficult for arsenal to win any cup

has been really impressive this entire season, looks too good for his age!

Would be very exciting.

Chambers was very good towards the end of season (esp. at UTD) Holding will come again and Mav is a wild card. Need a leader to help them come through ??

As someone pointed out, they have a lot of exciting and young CBs in the u23s plus Holding and Chambers. I'd rather they get one or two experienced CBs to nurturetheseones

I think Holding hasn’t progressed at all in the last two years, Chambers has put in some solid performances in Europe, Mavro looked good on his first couple of games (except for the red). I can’t see Holding being a starter for us in the future
— Billy Townsend (@BillyTownsend11) May 27, 2018
We have Holding & Chambers waiting in the wings. I would rather we sign someone who can offer leadership in the back four

If they think he’s much better and more ready than holding and chambers, make the move! Send one of them on loan or even sell.
