Yaya Toure is an Ivorian professional footballer, he is majorly known for his career days with Premier League giants Manchester City, where he was mainly depicted as a legend, helping them win several domestic titles before leaving to join Chinese club Qingdao Huanghai, which is probably where he will be formally hanging his boots. Today we will be talking about Yaya Toure’s net worth but before that a brief history of how he made his mark in the Football world  

Born on May 13, 1983, in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he developed an interest for football at a very young age resulting in him joining up ASEC Mimosas, a youth academy in Ivory Coast, back in 1996 having received a recommendation from his mentor Patrick van Reijendam. In 2001, he signed for Beveren, a Belgian club, where he spent three seasons with the club. In 2003, the Ivorian had gone to Emirates Stadium to have a trial with English giants Arsenal but failed to join the club after the then-manager, Arsenal Wenger, described his talent as average. With Toure seeing the club’s reluctance to sign, he grew impatient and tendered his signature to join Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk in 2003.  

Two years later, Toure was sold to Greek side Olympiacos, where he formally dubbed as the new Patrick Vieira. He helped the Greek club achieve a domestic double winning the Super League and the Greek Cup after putting up an impressive performance all season and establishing himself a key player. With his performance in Greece, he was immediately noticed by several scouting agents, not long after he was signed to Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco. He quickly became a pivotal figure in the French club’s team before eventually leaving the club.  

He joined Spanish club Barcelona, right after spending a single campaign with them. Toure went on to represent the Spanish club for three seasons which resulted in him helping them lift; two La Liga, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup  

Barcelona new then-manager, Pep Guardiola, revealed the Ivorian was not included in his plans for the club decided to sell him to English club Manchester City. At the Etihad Stadium, the Ivorian was handed the jersey number 42, which is the reverse of what he put on for the Catalonia giants in Spain, as no. 24 was on Patrick Vieira.   

The Ivorian had no problem integrating himself into Manchester City’s team, he was even praised for the impressive performances he displayed consecutively on his debut season. At the end of the 2010/11, Toure helped the Etihad team win their first trophy in 35 years after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Stoke City in the FA Cup Final marking his name in the Manchester City’s records. Toure performance for the Citizens continues to improve every time as he set a new Premier League for his 168 most attempted passes and 157 most completed passes in a single match. His performance in the English Top Flight was noticed by CAF, that decided to award him with the African Footballer of the Year for 2011.  

In his second campaign with the English club, he helped he Sky Blues win their first Premier League title in 44 years, winning the league title with only three points from their rivals Manchester City, in the second position.

Yaya Toure ended up spending eight seasons with the Citizens, having established himself as a legend in the heart of the fans and their folklore. He lifted three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two EFL Cup and one FA Community Shield. In these titles, playing as a midfielder, Toure contributed 79 goals and 50 assists in 316 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens. After being announced that the Ivorian will be leaving City at the end of 2017/18 campaign, the fans gave him a standing ovation in his final appearance for the club in a 3-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.  

He returned to Olympiacos in the summer. Toure terminated his contract with the Greek club two months later under mutual agreement. He currently plays for Chinese club Qingdao Huanghai, where he earns $19 Million.   

With 19 goals in 101 matches for Ivory Coast, the prolific midfielder was able to lead his national team to lift the African Cup of Nations back in 2015. He won BBC African Player of the Year Award in 2013 and 2015. While he won CAF African Footballer of the Year Award in four consecutive years from 2011-2014.  

Yaya Toure’s net worth is set at $70 million following the calculations of all the endorsements he had so far in his career coupled with his current salary with the Chinese club.
